So get to sanding… STEP 1: Cut each 8′ board into 9 pieces (10 1/2 ” each). You could use the skill saw with a speed square as a guide to make nice straight cuts too. In hind sight I would probably opt for the chop saw and just measure the boards ahead of time or create a template board to keep them all the same. CON: It’s hard to keep super straight and level with that much length so every once and a while it would kick back or grab. We used a table saw and pre-set the 10 1/2 inches so we could just keep feeding in the 2 x 4 and cutting. wood conditioner (optional- recommended).
